Caralee Hammer-Frederic, LCSW
With over 20 years of experience working with couples, I specialize in helping individuals and couples foster deep relational and sexual intimacy. My approach is centered on replacing destructive behaviors and intimacy avoidance with healthy, meaningful interactions. My work is rooted in scientific research, particularly the groundbreaking work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, whose methods I adopted after discovering the Gottman Institute’s data-driven, evidence-based approach to relationship therapy.

She/Her/Hers
I became a certified Gottman Method therapist after being trained directly under Drs. John and Julie Gottman. I have a passion for helping couples reconnect and deepening their emotional bonds, especially by addressing behaviors that hinder connection. My extensive experience in the field allows me to provide the most efficient and effective therapy possible, and I am proud to offer couples tools to strengthen their relationships through evidence-based techniques.
In 2014, I was the first therapist to offer the Gottman Institute’s The Art and Science of Love workshop in Colorado and Hawaii. This workshop, based on the Gottman Method, is designed to help couples create lasting love by teaching them the skills to enhance communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy. I am thrilled to expand the availability of this workshop, bringing it to Minnesota for the first time in 2023!
As an Advanced Clinical Trainer for the Gottman Institute, I have also had the honor of training healthcare professionals across the country. I provide Level 1, 2, and 3 Gottman Method training and consult therapists seeking certification in the Gottman Method. In 2017, I expanded my practice to offer these invaluable trainings, and my reach has since grown to include professionals in Colorado, Hawaii, and beyond.
I founded Principle Skills Relationship Center in response to the increasing demand for high-quality couples counseling. My practice has expanded to include multiple clinicians and support staff who share our vision of healing relationships and spreading love, joy, and peace in the world. Our mission is to heal painful relationships by integrating the best, evidence-based therapies available for couples.
I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, paddleboarding, exploring with my family, reading, yoga, and Zumba.
